The Kinross Kettle River-Buckhorn Operation is located in the State of Washington. The operation mines and processes ore from eight separate deposits in four local production centers. The Buckhorn mine continues to be a flagship operation for the company, having being highly awarded for leadership in low-impact mine development.

Position Summary and Responsibilities Purpose of Role

To conduct mine geology tasks including geological mapping, sampling, drill core logging, and to ensure service and /

or operating standards are met and goals are achieved at an underground gold mine.

Key Areas of Responsibilities and Duties

Activities related to mine geology

a. Conducts geological mapping and geochemical sampling programs.

b. Compiles geologic and assay data and enters it into files and database programs, and utilizes software to analyze results.

c. Logs drill core and cuttings samples.

d. Documents data and makes it accessible to all staff.

e. Assists with geotechnical work (e.g. splitting and photographing core, sampling muck piles, etc.) as needed.

f. Researches information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies, or methodologies.

g. K eeps on top of trends related to mine geology and incorporates this information into work assignments.

h. Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve technical knowledge and skill set.

i. Other duties as required.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

Required

Qualifications

Education

·

University graduation with a

bachelors or higher degree in geology. Course work and interest in Economic

Geology is desired.

·

Ability to obtain professional or

geologist-in-training registration.

Experience

·

Experience in applied geology at

an underground mine, mineral exploration, and skarn deposits are desirable.

Skills

·

Ability to learn quickly.

·

Ability to function within the qualifications

outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.

·

Good working knowledge and skill with a PC

utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs and applicable software

including Excel, Access, etc.

Experience with mining software, particularly Vulcan, is a plus.
