MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible to the training lead for completing all work related to the technical writing requirements for the project, including all the subprojects

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Write training manuals that meet the training and work requirements for the plant operators and maintenance personnel.

Coordinate work objectives, assignments, and scheduling with the training lead.

Maintain primary responsibility for developing and writing material for manuals, instructional guides.

Work methods and procedures, the installation, operation and maintenance of machinery and other equipment and training.

Observe operational and maintenance activities to determine best practices as content for operational and maintenance procedures.

Interview operations and maintenance personnel and read technical manuals and other materials to become familiar with the technologies and production methods.

Review manufacturers’ specifications, drawings, and other data relative to the operation, maintenance, and servicing of equipment.

Assemble and organize materials then complete writing assignments according to established standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style / format, and terminology.

Candidate must have verifiable success writing technical training materials. Our training modules are descriptive, explanatory materials written in narrative form and enhanced with drawings and photos.

We are not writing step-by-step procedures.The candidate must be fluent in English with special skill at expressing technical material in clear, concise, coherent English. The candidate must observe our established standards of order, style / format, and terminology and be able to write according to the customary rules of grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.Candidate should have experience as an operator or craftsman in a petrochemical facility or as an engineer who has worked on oil production and processing projects.

Candidate must be able to work independently to assemble and organize materials.

Duties include locating and interpreting many technical documents and, occasionally, interviewing engineers and vendor representatives.Candidate must be competent working with the Microsoft Office suite - particularly Word styles. Competency with Microsoft Visio is preferred.Competency with simple graphics and photo editing is a plus.Candidate must be able to closely proof read and fact check the work of other writers.

Candidate must accept and incorporate the results of peer reviews, intensive editing, and client critiques of his/her work.

Training as a technical writer and/or professional certification in technical writing is beneficial.

Providing samples of your work will be appreciated.
